Salary: Grade 4 (SCP 6 - 8) £ 21,719.96 - £ 22,417.35

Heworth Grange Academy is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team.

About the role

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers to provide support that helps our students get the very best from their education. You’ll play an important role in creating a positive, inclusive and purposeful learning environment where students feel safe, supported and encouraged to achieve.

You’ll provide individual and small-group support, helping students to access lessons and develop their knowledge, confidence and independence. This may include supporting pupils with SEND, individual learning needs and behaviour plans, helping them to overcome barriers and fully engage in school life.

You’ll work alongside teachers to deliver agreed learning activities and programmes, adapting your approach in response to students’ needs. You’ll monitor and provide feedback on students’ progress, support literacy and numeracy activities, assist with resources and help students make the best possible progress.

Building positive relationships will be a key part of the role. You’ll encourage students to participate, work cooperatively and take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour. You’ll celebrate their achievements, promote self-esteem and help them develop the confidence and independence they need to succeed.

You’ll also contribute to the wider life of the classroom and school, working closely with teachers, colleagues and parents/carers to ensure students receive consistent and effective support.

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience is required.
