Job summary

Flourish Education in Moreton-in-Marsh is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 class on a long-term, part-time basis. The role is 4 days per week, starting after the October half-term, with potential extension beyond February half-term.

You will work closely with the class teacher to help pupils access learning, build confidence and independence, and maintain a positive classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in primary school settings is highly desirable.
  • Experience in Key Stage 1 is advantageous.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant or education qualification is desirable.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children.
  • Good behaviour management and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils within a Year 2 classroom throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging learning activities.
  • Provide additional support to pupils who may require further guidance with their learning.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Support reading, writing, phonics, numeracy and other areas of the curriculum.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to support learning and targeted activities.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils stay engaged in learning.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and provide reassurance and guidance.
  • Assist with transitions, break times, lunchtimes and other daily activities.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to individual pupil needs.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and wider school team.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.

Job description

A supportive Primary School in Moreton-in-Marsh is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 class on a long-term basis.


This part-time position will begin after the October half-term and will initially continue until February half-term, with the potential for the role to be extended. Working 4 days per week, this is an excellent opportunity to become a valued member of the school team and make a positive impact on pupils' learning, development, and wellbeing.

The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils throughout the school day, helping them to access learning, develop their confidence and independence, and engage positively within the classroom environment.


The role will involve supporting the Year 2 class with a range of learning activities, working alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging lessons and providing additional support to pupils where required. The successful candidate will be someone who is confident working with young children, has a calm and patient approach, and is passionate about helping pupils achieve their full potential.


As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:


  • Supporting pupils within a Year 2 classroom throughout the school day

  • Working closely with the class teacher to support the delivery of engaging and effective learning activities

  • Providing additional support to pupils who may require further guidance with their learning

  • Helping pupils to develop their confidence, independence, and social skills

  • Supporting pupils with reading, writing, phonics, numeracy, and other areas of the curriculum

  • Working with individuals and small groups to support learning and targeted activities

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils to remain engaged and focused on their learning

  • Building positive, trusting, and supportive relationships with pupils

  • Providing reassurance, encouragement, and guidance throughout the school day

  • Supporting pupils during transitions, break times, lunchtimes, and other aspects of the school day where required

  • Adapting learning activities and resources to support individual pupil needs

  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher and wider school team

  • Maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment

  • Following school policies, safeguarding procedures, and school expectations at all times


To be successful in this Teaching Assistant role, you will need:


  • Previous experience working with children within a Primary School setting is highly desirable

  • Experience working within Key Stage 1 would be advantageous

  • A relevant Teaching Assistant or education qualification is desirable

  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach

  • The ability to build positive relationships with children and understand their individual needs

  • Good behaviour management skills and the ability to remain consistent and positive

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • The ability to support learning both independently and as part of a wider classroom team

Working as a Teaching Assistant for Flourish Education also offers you excellent benefits, including:
