Job summary

Horizon Teachers is seeking an experienced SEND Teacher Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Merton, South London. The role involves 1:1 support and small-group work with primary and secondary pupils who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and communication difficulties.

You will adapt classwork to individual needs, assist with daily routines, sensory activities, and behavioural support, working closely with teachers and the SEND team in a nurturing, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar SEND setting or with children with SEND is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Autism-friendly strategies and sensory needs is advantageous.
  • Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable but not essential.
  • Genuine interest in helping children grow in confidence and independence.

Are you an experienced SEND teacher assistant looking for long-term role in South London?

We’re looking for a passionate SEND Teacher Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Merton.

The school works with primary and secondary pupils with needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Speech, language and communication difficulties, with a strong focus on helping each child feel safe, included, and confident.

This school provides a highly supportive and nurturing place to learn and they pride themselves around the positive and inspiring atmosphere their dedicated staff create for the children.

  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential).
  • A genuine interest in helping children grow in confidence and independence.
