Job summary

Academics is recruiting a Teaching Assistant in Hatfield to support children with autism and complex needs in a specialist educational setting. The role is full-time, 8:30am-3:30pm, with temporary/ad-hoc contract and potential temp-to-perm.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, help with communication for pre-verbal learners, support sensory needs and emotional regulation, and work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to deliver consistent learning programs.

  • Availability Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm.

Are you a compassionate and patient Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in Hatfield?

We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting supporting children with autism and complex additional needs.

This role would suit someone who is passionate about working with autistic children and enjoys creating a calm, structured and supportive environment. You will primarily be supporting pre-verbal students, helping them develop communication, regulate their sensory needs and engage with learning.

Key Details

  • Location: Hatfield
  • Pay: 14.20 - 15.00 per hour, depending on experience
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • Contract: Temporary/ad-hoc work available, with temp-to-perm opportunities for the right candidate
  • Start: ASAP

Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK - unfortunately, we cannot offer sponsorship
  • Availability Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • Experience supporting children or young people with autism, sensory needs or communication difficulties is desirable
  • Experience working with pre-verbal or non-verbal children would be highly beneficial
  • Comfortable providing personal and intimate care
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
