Job summary

Empowering Learning Ltd in Harrogate is seeking Teaching Assistants to support in Primary and Secondary Special Needs classrooms on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.

Roles start ASAP, hours are 8.30 - 3.30pm, and you will assist with classroom activities and off-site recreational events while supporting children with autism and challenging behaviours.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational programs and activities.

  • Collaborate to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).

Job description

Empowering Learning are working with a Primary and Secondary Special Needs School in Harrogate who are seeking Teaching Assistants to support in their classrooms on a 1:1 basis or within small groups. These roles are to start ASAP and hours of work will be 8.30 - 3.30pm

The school caters for Primary pupils supporting Children with Autism and Challenging Behaviours and communication needs.

You will be involved in classroom duties and off-site recreational activities.

Duties
  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational programs and activities for students.
  • Provide support to students with special needs, including those with autism.
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help students with daily tasks, such as personal care and hygiene.
  • Support students in their academic and social development.
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher.
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour management strategies.
Skills
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Knowledge of special education practices and strategies.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with children.
