Job summary

Premier Education is seeking an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant for a long-term 1:1 support role with a EYFS child who has severe learning difficulties near Chapel-en-le-Frith, High Peak.

The role is five days per week, 8:30am-3:45pm, with funding-based continuity. Applicants must drive to the school due to location and hold an enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is essential.
  • Experience in UK school or education setting.
  • Experience with severe learning difficulties or SEND is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a 4-year-old child with SLD.
  • Support the pupil to access learning activities throughout the school day.
  • Assist with communication, interaction and engagement.
  • Encourage independence and developing appropriate skills.
  • Follow individual support plans and safeguarding procedures.
  • Work with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals.

Level 3 Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Severe Learning Difficulties

Location: High Peak - Near Chapel-en-le-Frith
Start Date: ASAP / Subject to Funding
Contract: Long-Term, Subject to Continued Funding
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:45pm
Pay: Competitive daily rates, paid weekly via our in-house PAYE payroll

Premier Education is recruiting an experienced Level 3 Teaching Assistant for a long-term 1:1 support role with a EYFS child with severe learning difficulties at a school near Chapel-en-le-Frith in the High Peak.

The position is 5 days per week, 8:30am-3:45pm, and is expected to be a long-term role, subject to funding being confirmed and continuing.

We are looking for a patient, caring and experienced Teaching Assistant who is confident providing individual support to a young child with significant additional needs.

Due to the location of the school, applicants must have access to their own car and be able to drive to the setting.

The Role:
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a 4-year-old child

  • Supporting a child with severe learning difficulties

  • Helping the pupil access appropriate learning activities throughout the school day

  • Supporting communication, interaction and engagement

  • Encouraging independence and helping the child develop appropriate skills

  • Providing a consistent, nurturing and structured approach

  • Supporting the child's emotional, social and educational development

  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals

  • Following individual support plans and strategies

  • Providing consistent support 5 days per week

Candidate Requirements:
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is essential

  • Previous experience working within a UK school or education setting

  • Experience supporting children with severe learning difficulties or significant SEND is highly desirable

  • Previous 1:1 experience would be advantageous

  • Patient, caring, resilient and able to provide consistent support

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Reliable and able to commit to 5 days per week

  • Must be able to drive and have access to a car due to the school's location

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
