Premier Education is recruiting an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide behavioural support for a pupil at a central Stockport primary school. The role is full-time, five days per week, ASAP start, with initial till Christmas 2026 and potential to extend.

The successful candidate will build a positive relationship with the pupil, help them engage with learning, regulate behaviour and safely access the school day. UK primary school experience is essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a UK primary school is essential.
  • Experience providing 1:1 support is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting children with behavioural, SEMH or additional needs would be advantageous.
  • Strong and consistent behaviour management skills.
  • Patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Reliable and able to commit to 5 days per week.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child with behavioural needs
  • Building a positive, trusting and consistent relationship with the pupil
  • Supporting the child to remain engaged with classroom learning
  • Helping the pupil manage emotions and regulate behaviour
  • Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Supporting the child during lessons and other parts of the school day
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social interactions
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
  • Providing consistent support 5 days per week

Pay: Competitive daily rates, paid weekly via our in-house PAYE payroll

Premier Education is recruiting an experienced and resilient Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with behavioural needs at a primary school in Central Stockport.

The position is 5 days per week, starting as soon as possible and initially continuing until Christmas, with the potential to continue beyond this.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting children who can display challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will need to build a positive and consistent relationship with the pupil, helping them regulate their behaviour, engage with learning and successfully access the school day.

Previous experience working within a UK primary school is essential for this position.

The Role
