Job summary

Premier Education Ltd is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with behavioural needs in a central Stockport primary school. The role is full-time, five days per week, ASAP start and until Christmas 2026 with potential extension.

You will work with the class teacher, SENCO and support team to help the pupil engage with learning and regulate behaviour. UK primary school experience is essential; 1:1 support and strong behaviour management are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Previous UK primary school experience is essential.
• Experience providing 1:1 support is highly desirable.
• Strong behaviour management skills are required.
• Excellent communication and teamwork are essential.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with behavioural needs.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.
• Support the child to remain engaged with classroom learning.
• Help the pupil manage emotions and regulate behaviour.
• Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Support the child during lessons and other parts of the school day.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interactions.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team.
• Provide consistent support 5 days per week.

Premier Education is recruiting an experienced and resilient Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with behavioural needs at a primary school in Central Stockport.

The position is 5 days per week, starting as soon as possible and initially continuing until Christmas, with the potential to continue beyond this.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting children who can display challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will need to build a positive and consistent relationship with the pupil, helping them regulate their behaviour, engage with learning and successfully access the school day.

Previous experience working within a UK primary school is essential for this position.

The Role:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child with behavioural needs

• Building a positive, trusting and consistent relationship with the pupil

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a UK primary school is essential

• Experience providing 1:1 support is highly desirable

• Experience supporting children with behavioural, SEMH or additional needs would be advantageous

• Strong and consistent behaviour management skills

• Patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations

• Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries

• Reliable and able to commit to 5 days per week

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
