Job summary

Rishton Methodist School in Blackburn is seeking a compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEND, helping them access learning and build independence. The role is part-time, term-time only, with hours Monday to Wednesday 8:40 am–12:00 pm and Thursday/Friday 8:40 am–12:30 pm.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic female 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Rishton. These roles involve providing tailored support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and thrive in the school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Have fun.
• Provide individualised support to a designated pupil with SEND, both in and out of the classroom.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to deliver targeted interventions and adapt learning materials.
• Assist with developing the pupil's confidence, social skills, and emotional well-being.
• Implement strategies from the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
• Promote positive behaviour and a nurturing, inclusive environment.
• Build strong relationships with staff, parents, and external professionals.

Desirable Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or above qualification appropriate to the post.
• Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English (Literacy) and Mathematics (Numeracy).

Essential Experience

• Experience of working with or caring for children of relevant age.

Desirable Experience

• Experience of working in a relevant classroom/service environment.
• Experience of Administrative work.
• Experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
