Job summary

Prospero Teaching in Rochdale is seeking an experienced Teacher or Middle Leader to cover a class supporting learners with SEMH needs in a specialist SEND provision. This role offers a flexible, learner-led approach within a nurturing environment, with the opportunity to lead a small team and drive tailored engagement.

You will deliver a broad, adaptable curriculum, implement EHCP targets, work with families and external agencies, and contribute to safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching or leading within SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision settings.
• Confidence managing a flexible, learner-led approach with students who may present high anxiety or complex behaviours.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Previous middle leadership experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and teach a class supporting learners with SEMH needs.
• Deliver a flexible, learner-led curriculum tailored to individual engagement levels.
• Support learners in building trust, confidence, and readiness to progress toward more structured learning.
• Lead and support a team of Teaching Assistants within the class.

Start Date: Tuesday 1st September 2026

Contract Type: Full-time

Salary: £750 - £1,500 per week Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications (MPS/UPS + TLR where applicable)

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, Term time

This is a flexible, learner-led area of the school, working with young people who often present with high anxiety and require a bespoke, trusting approach to re-engage with education.
