Job summary

Prospero Teaching in Rochdale is seeking an experienced Teacher or Middle Leader to cover a class supporting learners with SEMH needs in a specialist SEND provision. This role offers a flexible, learner-led approach within a nurturing environment, with the opportunity to lead a small team and drive tailored engagement.

You will deliver a broad, adaptable curriculum, implement EHCP targets, work with families and external agencies, and contribute to safeguarding.

Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Experience teaching or leading within SEMH, SEND, or alternative provision settings.
Confidence managing a flexible, learner-led approach with students who may present high anxiety or complex behaviours.
Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Previous middle leadership experience is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

Lead and teach a class supporting learners with SEMH needs.
Deliver a flexible, learner-led curriculum tailored to individual engagement levels.
Support learners in building trust, confidence, and readiness to progress toward more structured learning.
Lead and support a team of Teaching Assistants within the class.
Implement and monitor EHCP targets and person-centred plans.
Liaise closely with families, external agencies, and the wider school leadership team.
