Job summary

DJH in the West Midlands is inviting applications for a Tax Trainee based in Halesowen. You’ll join the Tax team to learn delivering client advice while developing your accounting skills in a supportive, award-winning firm.

You’ll gain exposure to personal tax computations, P11D forms, HMRC correspondence and accounts prep for sole traders, with a fully funded training package and clear career progression. This apprenticeship starts August 2027.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 GCSEs with Maths and English at grade 6 or above
• On track to achieve 3 A Levels (or equivalent) grade C or above
• Able to learn quickly and develop client-facing accounting skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and review of personal tax computations
• Help with preparation and submission of P11D forms
• Manage client and HMRC correspondence professionally
• Maintain accurate records and track key deadlines
• Assist with accounts preparation for sole traders
• Support CIS and PAYE matters (excluding day-to-day payroll)

As a Tax Trainee you’ll be fully immersed with our experienced Tax team, learning to provide great advice to clients. Life will be fast paced, engaging, creative and rewarding.

It’s a great opportunity to develop and progress within a forward-thinking and fast-paced firm. You’ll be:

• Assisting the team with the preparation and review of personal tax computations, including data entry and drafting self-assessment tax returns
• Supporting with the preparation and submission of P11D forms and related employer compliance tasks
• Managing client and HMRC correspondence, ensuring timely and professional communication
• Providing support with general tax administration duties, including maintaining accurate records and tracking key deadlines
• Assisting with accounts preparation for sole traders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards
• Supporting with CIS and PAYE matters, excluding day-to-day payroll processing
• Undertaking ad-hoc tasks as required to support the wider tax and accounts team
