Job summary

DJH is offering a Tax Trainee apprenticeship in Bury within the Early Careers department. You will join our tax team and gain hands-on experience in personal tax computations, P11D forms, and client communications. The role emphasises learning, development, and working in a fast-paced firm.

The ideal candidate will have strong GCSE results, likely pursuing 3 A Levels, and a genuine interest in accounting and tax. This is a fully funded training opportunity with career progression within DJH.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs minimum, with Maths and English at level 6+
• On track to achieve 3 A Levels (or equivalent) Grade C or above
• Demonstrates strong relationship-building and customer service mindset

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal tax computations, data entry and drafting self-assessment tax returns
• Support preparation and submission of P11D forms and related employer tasks
• Manage client and HMRC correspondence with timely, professional communication
• Provide general tax administration duties and maintain accurate records
• Assist with accounts preparation for sole traders ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Support CIS and PAYE matters (excluding day-to-day payroll)
• Undertake ad-hoc tasks to support the tax and accounts team

As a Tax Trainee you’ll be fully immersed with our experienced Tax team, learning to provide great advice to clients. Life will be fast paced, engaging, creative and rewarding.

It’s a great opportunity to develop and progress within a forward-thinking and fast-paced firm. You’ll be:

• Assisting the team with the preparation and review of personal tax computations, including data entry and drafting self-assessment tax returns
• Supporting with the preparation and submission of P11D forms and related employer compliance tasks
• Managing client and HMRC correspondence, ensuring timely and professional communication
• Providing support with general tax administration duties, including maintaining accurate records and tracking key deadlines
• Assisting with accounts preparation for sole traders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards
• Supporting with CIS and PAYE matters, excluding day-to-day payroll processing
• Undertaking ad-hoc tasks as required to support the wider tax and accounts team
