Job summary

DJH in Halesowen is recruiting for a Tax Trainee apprentice to join our Tax team and gain hands-on experience while training for professional qualifications. You will learn to prepare tax computations, handle client and HMRC communications, and support with P11D forms within a dynamic, supportive firm culture committed to learning and development.

Ideal candidates will have strong GCSEs ( Maths and English at grade 6+ ), be on track for 3 A Levels, and demonstrate a proactive, people-focused

Qualifications

• GCSEs with Maths and English at grade 6 or above.
• On track to achieve 3 A Levels (or equivalent) grade C or above.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship-building.
• Motivated to deliver exceptional service and learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and review of personal tax computations, including data entry.
• Support with the preparation and submission of P11D forms and related employer compliance tasks.
• Manage client and HMRC correspondence, ensuring timely and professional communication.
• Assist with accounts preparation for sole traders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Support with CIS and PAYE matters, excluding day-to-day payroll processing.
• Undertake ad-hoc tasks to support the wider tax and accounts team.

As a Tax Trainee you’ll be fully immersed with our experienced Tax team, learning to provide great advice to clients. Life will be fast paced, engaging, creative and rewarding.

It’s a great opportunity to develop and progress within a forward-thinking and fast-paced firm. You’ll be:

• Assisting the team with the preparation and review of personal tax computations, including data entry and drafting self-assessment tax returns
• Supporting with the preparation and submission of P11D forms and related employer compliance tasks
• Managing client and HMRC correspondence, ensuring timely and professional communication
• Providing support with general tax administration duties, including maintaining accurate records and tracking key deadlines
• Assisting with accounts preparation for sole traders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards
• Supporting with CIS and PAYE matters, excluding day-to-day payroll processing
• Undertaking ad-hoc tasks as required to support the wider tax and accounts team
