Responsibilities
- Lead team on client engagements for tax related activities
- Complete review of tax sections for working paper les including corporate and personal tax returns, charity T2s and information returns
- Prioritize workflow including utilization of tax seniors and other staff, as well as recognizing and implementing more efficient work processes
- Apply Income Tax Act and other tax regulations to given client situations
- Conduct tax research as required and provide proactive tax planning alternatives
- Bring to resolution tax issues with staff, partners, CRA and clients for le completion
- Answer technical questions and inquiries from Tax, Audit staff and clients, clearly explaining reasoning, process and results
- Through continuing professional development and self learning, stay abreast of current developments and changing laws within Tax
- Manage, train and delegate work to Tax staff based on complexity, availability and deadline considerations
- Manage the personal tax season ensuring that staff are following proper procedures
- Review monthly tax newsletter and make revisions as needed
Qualifications
- CA designation
- Completion of CICA In Depth tax
- 5 years post In Depth tax practical experience with exposure to a broad range of client tax issues
- Previous responsibilities to support appropriate level of skill, professional competence and judgment
- Proven research, investigative, analysis and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated client relations skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in software programs including Caseware, Caseview, Taxprep and MS Office
