A leading beverage company is seeking a Tax Accountant to assist with tax compliance and project work in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The role involves managing tax compliance deadlines, preparing tax returns, and supporting the external audit process. Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience and a qualification in accounting or taxation. The position offers a hybrid work model in Lisburn or Dublin.

Overview

Location: Lisburn or Dublin (Hybrid remote working)

Contract: Permanent

The Tax Accountant will assist the Tax Manager with tax compliance and project work relating to Coca-Cola HBC in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Responsibilities
  • Manage external & internal tax compliance deadlines and month end processes
  • Prepare workings to support corporation tax returns in NI & ROI and managing relationships with tax advisors
  • Prepare VAT, Sugar Tax, Excise Duty and other Indirect Tax & statistical returns in NI & ROI
  • Supporting the external audit process & preparation of disclosures for statutory accounts
  • Prepare tax workings for annual business plans/ in year rolling estimates
  • Work with the Group’s Business Services Organisation ( BSO) on preparation of quarterly tax accounting
  • Provide support for customs & excise procedures and reliefs
  • Supporting with the preparation of local transfer pricing documentation in NI & ROI
  • Provide support with annual country-by-country and tax transparency reporting requirements
  • Ensure internal controls adequacy for key tax controls
  • Monitoring changes in legislation across all taxes and establish impact on the business at the earliest opportunity
  • Support Tax Manager as required in relation to ad hoc tasks (e.g. tax projects, tax authority queries etc)
Build effective relationships within the business
  • Liaising with wider Finance & BSO teams on any issues arising
  • Support Tax manager as required in preparing for local tax authority reviews and responding to queries
  • Keeps Tax Manager informed on any discrepancies identified or potential difficulties with completion of work
  • Builds internal and external networks effectively
Identify efficiency improvements in existing procedures
  • Fully utilise SAP & Excel to streamline and become more efficient
  • Takes initiative in tasks and does not wait to be told
Ensure timeliness and accuracy
  • Fulfil assigned work within agreed deadlines
  • Complete work to a high standard of accuracy
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent tax qualification (CTA) educated to degree level
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant tax experience in practice or in the tax function of a large business
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with non-tax professionals in a cross functional organisation
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and deal with ad hoc requests
Desired Criteria
  • Previous mixed tax experience (Corporation tax / VAT / Employment tax) is desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience within the FMCG sector would be an advantage
  • Previous experience of working within an ERP / SAP
