Job summary

Ramboll is seeking an experienced Civil & Structural Engineer to lead Transmission & Distribution capability in the UK. This senior role combines technical authority, design management, and client-facing commercial support within a supportive, collaborative environment.

You will act as technical authority on major T&D projects, lead training and development of the engineering team, and regularly attend client and marketing meetings to shape proposals and represent the business.

Qualifications

• Degree (BEng / MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng MIStructE).
• 10+ years' experience in civil & structural engineering with strong T&D exposure.
• Experience with Transmission & Distribution infrastructure, including substations and power networks.
• Experience working with National Grid and UK DNOs (e.g. UKPN, SSEN, SPEN, WPD).
• Experience in framework delivery environments.
• Demonstrable experience as Lead Engineer, Design Manager, or Technical authority.

Responsibilities

• Act as Design Manager / Lead Engineer for T&D civil and structural projects.
• Review, approve, and mentor designs produced by junior engineers.
• Oversee design risk management, technical assurance, and value engineering.
• Lead the training strategy for civil and structural engineers within the T&D sector.
• Attend client, bid, and marketing meetings as the senior technical representative.
• Build long-term relationships with DNOs, National Grid, ICPs, and EPC contractors.
• Provide technical input to project planning, resourcing, and risk management.
• Support innovation, digital engineering, and design efficiency initiatives.
