Job summary

WSP is seeking a high-calibre Systems Engineer to support integration on major rail infrastructure programmes. You will lead tasks, mentor junior staff, and apply pragmatic systems thinking to reduce risk while collaborating with clients and teams across the project lifecycle.

The role emphasizes delivering value through strong stakeholder engagement, lifecycle awareness, and continuous professional development in a consultancy environment across the UK & Ireland.

Qualifications

• A degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Chartered status or be on track to achieve it in the near future.
• Post-degree experience delivering systems integration in a rail environment.
• Experience with systems engineering tools (e.g. DOORS) and MBSE.
• Ability to define appropriate systems engineering approaches on projects.
• Experience leading others on systems engineering projects and stakeholder engagement.
• Understanding lifecycle stages and challenges across projects.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams to solve complex integration problems for major infrastructure programmes.
• Lead tasks within a project environment and mentor others on larger projects.
• Demonstrate willingness to challenge and learn from clients and colleagues.
• Apply pragmatic systems thinking to reduce risk and add value in big systems engineering projects.
• Support interval team development activities focused on business or technical development.
• Gaining commercial responsibility of projects within a consultancy environment.
• Proactively seek knowledge to determine the right approach to problems under constraints.
