Job summary

Symmetric Recruitment Ltd in Lincoln is seeking a hands-on Systems Administrator to join a hybrid full-time team. You will be the first point of contact for technical issues, collaborating with senior engineers on incident resolution, migrations, and upgrades.

You will administer Windows Server and/or Linux environments, support Microsoft 365, and contribute to automation efforts. A positive communicator with a proactive mindset will thrive here.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience administering Windows Server and/or Linux environments.
• Some exposure to cloud platforms (Microsoft 365) and virtualisation technologies.
• Comfortable working within ticket-based incident and change processes.
• An interest in scripting and automation, even if not yet advanced.
• A clear communicator, confident as a first point of contact for colleagues at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support across server and infrastructure environments, administering Windows Server and/or Linux systems.
• Support cloud-based systems, including Microsoft 365, working alongside the Cloud Engineering team.
• Support virtualisation platforms, storage, backup and recovery operations.
• Investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents and service requests, keeping tickets accurate and within SLA.
• Carry out scheduled patching, upgrades and approved changes, following change control and technical standards.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, utilisation and capacity, respond to alerts and escalates recurring risks.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and contribute to the knowledge base.
• Support infrastructure projects, migrations and upgrades under the direction of senior engineers.
• Help build and maintain automation scripts to cut down repetitive manual work.

Lincoln Hybrid Full-time

A well-established name in UK technology is looking for a Systems Administrator to join its team in Lincoln. This is a hands-on infrastructure role inside a business that takes its systems, security and uptime seriously, with genuine scope to drive improvements rather than just keep the lights on.

You'll be a first point of contact for technical issues across the organisation, working closely with senior engineers on everything from routine administration and ticket resolution through to infrastructure projects, migrations and upgrades.
