Job summary

Symmetric Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a Systems Administrator in Lincoln for a hybrid, full-time role. You will manage Windows and/or Linux servers, support Microsoft 365, and assist with virtualization, storage, and backups.

The position offers hands-on operational duties and opportunities to drive improvements. You will work within incident/change processes, develop automation scripts, and contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support across server and infrastructure environments, administering Windows Server and/or Linux systems.
• Support cloud-based systems, including Microsoft 365, with the Cloud Engineering team.
• Support virtualization platforms, storage, backup and recovery operations.
• Investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents and service requests, keeping tickets accurate and within SLA.
• Carry out scheduled patching, upgrades and approved changes, following change control and technical standards.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, utilisation and capacity, respond to alerts and elevate recurring risks.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and contribute to the knowledge base.
• Support infrastructure projects, migrations and upgrades under the direction of senior engineers.
• Help build and maintain automation scripts to cut down repetitive manual work.
