Job summary

SoCode Recruitment in Cambridge is seeking a Systems Administrator to deliver and support a hybrid IT environment spanning on-premise and cloud services. You will be the senior escalation point, mentor junior colleagues and help refine IT services and processes.

The role focuses on security, resilience and performance across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online and related technologies, with strong emphasis on documentation and continual improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain virtual and physical infrastructure environments.
• Administer and manage server, storage and network systems.
• Configure and manage backup solutions.
• Manage endpoint deployments and device administration.
• Maintain system security, performance and compliance standards.
• Oversee asset management, hardware auditing and software licensing compliance.
• Support and administer Microsoft 365 services.
• Manage Microsoft Entra ID and Intune environments.
• Support Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams.
• Assist with endpoint management and security policy implementation.
• Act as an escalation point for complex technical incidents.
• Troubleshoot advanced workstation, hardware and software issues.
• Support specialist business applications and bespoke systems.
• Perform root-cause analysis and resolution of infrastructure-related issues.
• Diagnose networking, wireless and connectivity problems.
• Review, test and deploy software updates and patches.
• Ensure applications remain secure and operational.
• Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.

The Opportunity

As Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance and support of a hybrid IT environment spanning on-premise and cloud-based services. You'll work closely with infrastructure colleagues, support technicians and key stakeholders to ensure systems remain secure, resilient and fit for purpose. You'll also act as a senior technical escalation point, mentor junior members of the team and contribute to the ongoing improvement of IT services and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Systems Administration

• Support and maintain virtual and physical infrastructure environments.
• Administer and manage server, storage and network systems.
• Configure and manage backup solutions.
• Manage endpoint deployments and device administration.
