Job summary

Arup is seeking a placement student to support a team of structural engineers on projects ranging from local to global scales. The role focuses on learning the craft of structural engineering, shadowing an experienced engineer, and assisting in the early stages of projects that prioritise low-carbon design and practical solutions.

Qualifications

• Studying towards a Degree in General, Civil, Structural, Design or Architectural Engineering, at 2.1 or above.
• Studying, or have studied, an ICE accredited course.
• A passion for structural engineering.

Responsibilities

• Shadow an experienced engineer within the team and help in the early stages of a project.
• Carry out structural calculations, modelling, engineering, computer and hand analysis.
• Design structural engineering solutions that are economical, practical and low-carbon.
• Build computer and structural engineering models to understand building behavior.
• Collaborate with teams, communicate through drawings, modelling, reports and meetings.
• Learn the craft of structural engineering, codes of practice and construction techniques.
