Job summary

Connection Support in Northampton is recruiting a Support Worker to join our brand new Supported Accommodation Service. You will provide trauma-informed, person-centred support to adults experiencing homelessness, helping them build confidence and move towards independent living.

You will work full-time, across shifts including weekends and bank holidays, with a rolling rota; the role offers a supportive, inclusive environment and opportunities for learning and development.

Qualifications

• Experience of supporting vulnerable adults or young people who are homeless or at risk, including mental health issues or substance misuse.
• Ability to work flexibly across shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
• Experience of maintaining accurate records and updating support information.
• Understanding of causes of homelessness and challenges moving to settled accommodation.
• Awareness of housing and welfare benefits systems.
• Ability to research and access information about local community resources.
• Knowledge of strengths-based or trauma-informed approaches to support.

We are currently recruiting a Support Worker to join our brand new Supported Accommodation Service in Northampton.

About the Service

Ray House provides accommodation, support and advice to adults experiencing homelessness with a history of rough sleeping. The service helps individuals build stability, improve wellbeing and move towards independent living through accommodation-based support and access to specialist services.

The impact you will have

You will play an important role in supporting individuals to build confidence, develop independence and move towards a more stable future. Through trauma-informed, person-centred support, you will help people address the challenges that may have contributed to homelessness, improve their wellbeing, and develop the skills needed to sustain accommodation.

By building positive relationships and providing practical day-to-day support, you will empower individuals to achieve their goals, access appropriate services, and make meaningful progress towards independent living.

Contract Details

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, averaging 38.5 hours per week, 08.00am - 20.00pm

The role operates on a rolling rota, with a typical working pattern of:

• Week 1: 4 days on, 3 days off
• Week 2: 3 days on, 4 days off

Flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the service.

Closing date: Wednesday 7th October

Introduction calls: Monday 12th to Wednesday 14th October

About you

You will be compassionate, resilient and committed to supporting people to achieve positive change. You will have a person-centred approach, the ability to build trusting relationships, and a genuine desire to help individuals develop confidence, stability and independence.

You will have:

• Experience of supporting vulnerable adults or young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including those experiencing mental health issues, substance misuse or offending behaviour.
• The ability to work flexibly across shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
• Experience of maintaining accurate records and updating support information.
• An understanding of the causes of homelessness and the challenges people may face when moving towards settled accommodation.
• Awareness of housing and welfare benefits systems.
• Ability to research and access information about local community resources.
• Knowledge of strengths-based or trauma-informed approaches to support.
