Job summary

Active Care Group is recruiting a Day Support Worker in York to support a gentleman living at home with his partner and family. The role focuses on compassionate, person-centred companionship, daily routine support, and enabling independence within a safe home and community setting.

You will help with daily activities, social outings, and basic personal care, with a flexible 0-hours contract and regular duties tailored to the client’s needs. Training and development are provided.

While the role is offered on a flexible zero-hours contract, the work is ongoing and typically provides a stable working pattern with the same client.About the RoleWe are looking for a compassionate and positive Day Support Worker to join a new care team supporting a gentleman living at home with his partner, two teenage children, and the family cat.The client is living with partial blindness, an acquired brain injury (ABI), long-term and short-term memory loss, cognitive impairment, and the effects of previous strokes. He is mobile and requires lean support with day-to-day living. This is a companionship-based role focused on providing person-centred support that promotes independence, dignity, confidence, and overall wellbeing, including directional support with personal care.We are looking for someone who is warm, bubbly, and chatty, with a good sense of humour and a genuine passion for supporting others. The ideal person will build a meaningful connection with the client, providing companionship alongside practical support such as assisting with daily routines, preparing simple meals, accompanying him in the community, and encouraging independence in a safe and supportive environment.A driver would be beneficial, but is not essential, as the client is happy to use public transport such as buses and trains with support.
