Job summary

Cygnet Appletree, near Durham, is a mental health hospital for women offering specialist services. We are looking for a confident Support Worker with a passion for delivering outstanding care.

You’ll work 42 hours a week (12 hour shifts, day and night), supporting management and front-line staff to ensure safe, compassionate care for our service users and their families.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication with service users, families and colleagues.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment.
• Sensitive and patient-centred approach to care.
• DBS check is required prior to/start

• Support the management and team in daily operations of the service.

You’ll be working 42 hours a week (12 hour shifts, both day and night shifts), making a positive difference to the lives of the people in our care at Cygnet Appletree.

Cygnet Appletree, near Durham, is a mental health hospital for women that includes Pippin Ward, a specialist PICU service and Bramley Ward, an intensive support service for women with a personality disorder and complex mental health needs.

Our person‑centred service has been designed with wellness in mind, providing a safe and comfortable environment that promotes efficient rehabilitation and recovery. We are dedicated to understand, stabilise and break the traumatic cycles of relapse that can impact service users' lives.

Your day-to-day

• Support both management and team members in the day-to-day running of the service
• Ensure duties are allocated effectively and safely
• Offer enhanced care with a flexible learning approach for all the people in our care
• Provide guidance & encouragement through physical & emotional support
• Learn about individuals' specific needs & provide help in the most appropriate way
• Assist with medical & welfare needs and report as required

Starting pay rate £13.15 per/hour, post probation £13.45per/hr, and then £13.70per/hour post 18 months .

The opportunity to earn between £29-32000 per annum as one of our full time support workers at Cygnet Appletree.
