Job summary

British Red Cross is seeking a Support Worker to assist discharge-to-assess in South Ayrshire with travel around the area. The casual role pays £13.45 per hour and aims to support vulnerable adults to live independently at home.

You will respond to referrals from health professionals, visit service users to assess needs, and help create tailored support plans, while assisting with daily living tasks to promote wellbeing. Registration with the SSSC within 3 months is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting people with physical, sensory, or mental health needs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Knowledge of NHS and social care services and how to access them.
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with health, housing, and social care professionals to ensure consistent support.

Support Worker - Discharge to Assess

Location: South Ayrshire with travel around the area

Salary: £13.45 per hour

Hours: Zero, as and when required

Contract: Casual

Additional Requirement: Successful candidates will be required to register with the Scottish Social Security Council (SSSC) within 3 months of starting.

What will a day in the life of a Support Worker involve?
