Cartrefi Cymru Co-operative in Porthmadog, Gwynedd is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to provide flexible, person-centred support across homes, in the community and in day services.

You’ll help individuals make choices, work toward personal goals and stay connected with family, while ensuring safety and dignity in daily tasks. A rewarding role with opportunities to grow and make a real difference.

Qualifications

• Patience and empathy.
• Ability to speak on behalf of others to professionals.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Good written skills and the ability to record events with empathy.
• Full driving licence – essential for transporting individuals to appointments.
• Access to your own car for transporting people (business insurance required) – paid 55p per mile.
• Welsh language fluency preferred.
• No experience required; full training provided.

Job description

As a Support Worker in Porthmadog, Gwynedd you’ll help make everyday life more meaningful, enjoyable and rewarding for the people we support.

Our sessional day service supports people with learning disabilities to get out, get involved and make the most of their local community. From trying new activities to building confidence and independence, you’ll play a vital role in helping people enjoy fulfilling lives on their own terms.

Role: Support Worker

Location: Porthmadog, Gwynedd

Hours: We have both part time and full time hours, please speak to us about the hours you are looking to do. Your shift pattern will include weekends.

Salary: £13.59 per hour and our sleep-in shifts at £60 per night and our travel expenses is paid 55p per mile

Contract: Permanent

What you’ll be doing:

As a Support Worker, you’ll provide flexible, person-centred support through our sessional day service, working across Clwb Cartrefi, out in the community and in people’s own homes.

You’ll support individuals to make their own choices and work towards their personal goals — from deciding what to wear, eat or do each day, to bigger decisions about where they live, managing their money or going on holiday.

You’ll help people turn their choices into reality, whether that’s trying new activities, developing new skills, building confidence or simply enjoying time in the community. You’ll also provide practical support with everyday responsibilities, such as paying bills, maintaining their home, being a good neighbour and staying connected with friends and family.

Most importantly, you’ll help make everyday remarkable by creating opportunities for enjoyment, connection and independence, while celebrating the small moments that make a real difference. It’s a varied, rewarding and genuinely people-focused role where no two days need to be the same.

No experience required as full training is provided. We’d love to hear from you if:

• have patience and empathy
• can support a person with their intimate personal care with respect and dignity
• have strong communication and teamwork skills
• are able to speak on behalf of others as well as to a range of professional people
• have good written skills and the ability to record events with empathy and meaning
• have afull driving licence - essentialfor transporting individuals to appointments and activities
• have access to your own car and happy to use this for transporting people we support to and from activities as well as obtaining business insurance for your vehicle for which we pay 55p per mile to cover this
• beingfluent in Welshis preferred so you can effectively communicate with Welsh-speaking service users and meet their cultural and linguistic needs
