Essential for this job:
Hilary is looking for a support worker who understands trauma and its effects. She hasn't had the easiest of lives, which influences her feelings about herself and the world around her, including her support team. When feeling scared, she may strike out at those closest to her.
She needs someone who can maintain boundaries even when challenged, with skills and knowledge related to working with challenging behaviour, and who possesses a high level of emotional intelligence to avoid taking things personally if Hilary reacts negatively. Resilience is key—someone who will persist regardless of her words or actions. Patience is essential, as building trust with Hilary takes time due to her life experiences.
Hilary is a joy to be around; she enjoys laughter, jokes, watching soaps, supporting Plymouth Argyle, and takes pride in her appearance and her home. If you can get through the initial challenging period, this can be a very rewarding role. We offer full training, ongoing support, and potential career growth as our organization expands.
