Job summary

CareTech Community Services in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, is hiring two Support Workers to help adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs. You will deliver person-centred support in line with care plans, assist with daily living, and promote independence, dignity, and wellbeing.

No prior care experience required; full training and a structured induction are provided. You’ll work a rota including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins; Enhanced DBS is required.

• No prior care experience? No problem. If you have the passion, you’ll receive full training and a structured induction.
• Enhanced DBS required (paid for by CareTech).
• Ability to work unsociable hours on a rota basis.

We are recruiting for two Support Workers to join our service in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs. About the Service - Ashwood Place

Ashwood Place is an 8 bedded residential service for adults with Learning Disability, Physical disability, Epilepsy and Adults on the Spectrum. Person centred care is very important to us at Chaucer Road. As a team, we focus on the abilities of the people we support and promote learning of new skills, thereby promoting independence and an improved quality of life. We have an open culture where staff feel safe to challenge bad practise, learn from mistakes, share knowledge and lessons learnt. The people we support are involved in the day-to-day running of their home.

Service User Interests

The people we support enjoy a wide range of activities, and Support Workers play a vital role in enabling these experiences, including:

• Swimming
• Bowling
• Meals out in restaurant of choice
• Holidays at least one per year
• Shopping
• Cinema
• Bus ride or walks
• ...and lots more

The Role

You will:

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking people who are caring, patient, and respectful, with a positive and resilient approach. You should be confident working independently and within a team, have good communication skills, basic IT and written abilities, and be flexible and reliable.
