Job description

Would you love a new part-time job where you can make a difference and be that person that someone can rely on?

You’re in luck as we’re looking for a new colleague to join our amazing #TeamGlenorchy in Lennoxtown on a permanent, part-time (30 hours per week) basis.

Our team and the individuals you’ll support

You’ll become part of a friendly, fun, and welcoming team who supports five individuals with various support needs live in their shared home. There’s never a dull moment at Glenorchy, so if you’re looking for a job where it’s different every day, look no further!

As a Support Practitioner, your focus will be to help the individuals we support with all aspects of their daily living, including, shopping, finances, meal preparation, personal care and household tasks.

You’ll also find yourself supporting with their hobbies and interests too, so if you enjoy the odd holiday, a bit of football, socialising, singing and various indoor and outdoor activities, then this could be the role for you.

About you

No experience? No problem! We’ll train you, pay you and support you every step of the way. You’ll even gain funded, recognised qualifications as you work.

We want people who are
  • Kind, positive and up for a challenge
  • Great team players
  • Willing to learn and try new things
  • Ready to make a difference
  • Confident using computers and tablets

Due to the people we support having their own mobility cars, it would be beneficial if you have a full UK manual drivers licence with 1 years’ experience on the roads but this isn’t a deal breaker for the right candidate.

If you don’t live in the Lennoxtown area and are not a driver, we will need you to be mindful of the location of our service and be confident that you can travel for your shifts as there are limited public transport links available that fit with all our shift patterns.

What makes Cornerstone a great place to work
  • You’ll have a meaningful job doing things that you enjoy - it often doesn’t feel like work
  • No uniform - we wear our own casual clothes
  • We fund up to £500 towards driving lessons
  • We reimburse your yearly SSSC registration and PVG fees
  • Access to professional development and career progression opportunities
  • Recommend a colleague bonus scheme
  • Long service awards
  • Access to a 24/7 independent employee assistance helpline
  • 26 days annual leave (rising by 5 days after 5 years) plus 4 paid bank holidays
  • Family friendly leave options, including family, parental, bereavement and special leave
  • Access to lots of discounts, including the cinema, gym memberships, holidays and shopping to name a few
Shift patterns

As we’re dedicated to providing the best support, tailored to the needs of each individual the shifts will usually fall into patterns between the hours of 7am-10pm. Sleepovers, waking nights, weekends and public holidays would also form part of your rota on a rotational basis.

Our sleepovers don’t form part of your contracted hours, you’ll receive an additional payment of £107.60 for every sleepover shift you work!

Please note that we are unable to work these contracted posts around a university or college timetable and/or placements.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy.

If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.

Please note - If you have spent more than 12 months out with the UK (excluding France, Germany. Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) within the last 10 years while over the age of 18, you will be asked to provide a criminal record certificate from the relevant government/police authority as part of our pre-employment checks.
