Job summary

Cornerstone Community Care in Glasgow is recruiting for dedicated support workers to join a brand-new team. You will help two brothers with autism in their shared home, assisting with daily living and personal care while building trust and positive relationships.

Roles include early mornings, days, evenings, with waking nights and weekends on a rotational basis. No formal care experience needed; values and transferable skills are valued and training is provided.

The role and the people you'll support

At Cornerstone, everything we do is centred around supporting people to identify and achieve their goals. We work alongside the individuals we support to create personal plans that reflect their choices, support needs, abilities and aspirations.

In this role, you'll support two amazing brothers with an Autism diagnosis in their shared home, helping them with all aspects of their daily lives.

Their hobbies include watching their favourite TV shows, playing video games and having a bit of fun with pranks! Most importantly, the brothers are looking for someone who will take the time to get to know them, learn about their interests, respect their home and build genuine, positive relationships with them.

You'll be joining a brand new team where your support can make a real difference.

Together, you'll help the brothers to:

• Maintain their own home and enjoy the life they choose
• Increase and maintain their independence
• Receive support with all aspects of personal care
• Develop their social, health and wellbeing
• Work towards their individual goals and aspirations

About you

Although it would be great if you do have experience in care, it's not essential as we recruit on values and transferable skills. We're looking for people who are enthusiastic, creative and willing to get involved in the things they enjoy.

What we'll need you to bring:

• Good, clear communication skills (both verbal and written)
• A caring attitude
• Respect for boundaries and people's homes
• A positive approach to learning
• An understanding of the importance of routines and following guidelines
• Confidence in the use of computers

The brothers have barriers to their communication, so it's essential that you bring an excellent grasp of the English language.

Shift Patterns

As we're dedicated to providing the best support that is tailored to the needs of each individual, these opportunities will involve working early mornings, days and evenings. Waking nights, weekends and public holidays would also form part of your rota on a rotational basis.

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy. If you're successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.
