Job description

Are you on the look out for a rewarding, flexible new job?

Look no further as our relief team is growing in Banff, so we're now on the look out for caring and reliable people to join us.

Our team and the individual you'll support

You’ll join a warm, welcoming and friendly team and the great thing about this job is that no two days are ever the same.

As a member of our relief team, you’ll help us to make sure that we can continue to deliver excellent care and support to a gentleman who is autistic and faces mobility challenges during times of colleague annual leave, training and absence.

You’ll help this gentleman with all aspects of daily living, including going to appointments, personal care, shopping, cooking, housework and medication. You’ll also find yourselves getting involved in many of his hobbies and interests too, which include going for walks, attending coffee mornings, Snoezelen and various community events.

About You

We’re looking for people who are passionate about making a difference to the lives of others. We recruit on values and transferrable skills, so you don't need experience or qualifications to start your career with us. We'll pay you for your training and give you all the practical skills that you'll need. We'll even fund your SVQ (SCQF level 6/7) qualification too!

Shift Patterns

As we’re dedicated to providing the best care and support possible, shift patterns for our team are currently 0900-1530 hours or 0900-0900 hours (includes a sleepover).

What makes Cornerstone a great place to work

Along with hosting annual Star Awards to celebrate and recognise the impact and dedication of our colleagues and the achievements of the people we support, there's some other great perks that you’ll receive when you join our team:

  • You’ll have a meaningful job doing things that you enjoy - it often doesn't feel like work
  • Your job actually changes and improves lives - you'll make a difference in your local community
  • We have a culture of empowering our colleagues and teamwork
  • No uniform - we wear our own casual clothes
  • We fund up to £500 towards driving lessons
  • We reimburse your yearly SSSC registration fees
  • Access to funded qualifications through our SQA approved, award winning Training Academy
  • Ongoing continued professional development and career progression opportunities
  • Recommend a colleague bonus scheme
  • Long service awards
  • Access to a 24/7 independent employee assistance helpline
  • 26 days annual leave (rising by 5 days after 5 years) plus 4 paid bank holidays
  • Family friendly leave options, including family, parental, bereavement and special leave
  • Access to lots of discounts, including the cinema, gym memberships, holidays and shopping to name a few
What we need you to bring
  • Good communication skills
  • A caring attitude and approach
  • A positive approach to learning
  • Confidence in the use of computers
It would be great if you also have
  • A full UK driving license with a minimum of 1 years' experience on the roads as this gentleman does have his own mobility car
Please note

Successful candidates will be required to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and be committed to working towards an SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare with the support from our Training Academy.

If you have spent more than 12 months out with the UK (excluding France, Germany. Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania or Spain) within the last 10 years while over the age of 18, you will be asked to provide a criminal record certificate from the relevant government/police authority as part of our pre-employment checks.

If you’re successful in joining our team, we will need you to register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting your employment with us.
