Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting Cover Supervisors to support a network of secondary schools across Newport. You will cover lessons across various departments, managing classes for ages 11–16 without planning duties, while maintaining strong communication with staff.

The role emphasises classroom management, reliability, and adaptability to different everyday school contexts, with dedicated consultant support and eligibility for onboarding schemes.

Qualifications

• Be confident in their ability to manage a class of students aged 11–16.
• Able to manage behaviour to keep students engaged.
• Flexible to work across different departments and age ranges daily.

Responsibilities

• Support across school networks with day-to-day cover and long-term placements.
• Provide consistent cover without planning or preparation duties.
• Communicate effectively with staff to ensure smooth classroom operations.

Our Cover Supervisors play a vital role in schools, whether on a day to day, long-term or permanent basis. The role of a Cover Supervisor doesn’t include planning and preparation, however strong communication and classroom management skills are a must.

The successful Cover Supervisor will have:

• Be confident in their ability to manage a class of students within the age range 11 to 16
• Be able to manage behaviour in the classroom to ensure students remain engaged
• Be flexible to work throughout the school within different departments and with different age ranges daily
