Job summary

Bob and Berts Portadown is seeking an Experienced Café Supervisor to lead shifts, coach staff and ensure smooth daily operations in a busy café environment. Aged 18+, 1–2 years supervision in fast‑paced settings is preferred, with flexibility for early mornings and weekends.

Experienced Supervisor — Lead the Shift, Grow Your Career

Job title: Supervisor
Location:Bob and Berts Portadown
Hours: Part-time, including early mornings,midweeks shifts and weekends
Pay:Upto £13.50 per hour

Contract: Part-time
Shift pattern: Flexible availability required for opening, closing and weekend shifts

Essential eligibility: You must be aged 18 or over. This supervisor position includes key-holder, opening/closing, cash-handling and shift-accountability responsibilities. Applications from candidates under 18 cannot be progressed for this role.

Job Purpose

Ready to take ownership of a busy café shift? We’re looking for an experienced Café Supervisor who can confidently lead from the front, support and coach colleagues, maintain excellent service standards and keep daily operations running smoothly. This is a hands‑on position for someone who already has supervisory experience and wants real responsibility, a supportive team and opportunities to progress.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Operational Leadership

• Oversee daily opening and closing procedures, ensuring the premises is secure, clean, and ready for business.
• Manage staff workflow, delegating tasks effectively to optimize service during peak hours.
• Ensure all equipment (espresso machines, grinders, brewers) is properly functioning, and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and health regulations.

2. Staff Training & Supervision

• Train new hires and provide ongoing coaching to baristas on drink preparation, customer service, and POS operations.
• Keep the team motivated, upbeat, and ready to deliver friendly, “nothing is too much trouble” service.
• Assist in creating employee rotas and ensuring adequate coverage for shifts.

3. Customer Service & Product Quality

• Act as the primary point of contact for resolving customer queries and complaints promptly.
• Uphold quality standards for all coffee beverages, food, and products served.
• Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests.

4. Inventory & Financial Management

• Perform stock checks and assist with ordering inventory (coffee, milk, pastries, takeaway supplies) to minimize waste.
• Manage cash handling, including auditing cash drawers, reconciling daily sales, and preparing bank deposits.
• Maximize catering sales by ensuring attractive merchandising of food items.

What We’re Looking For

• Essential experience: At least 1–2 years in a fast‑paced café, restaurant or retail environment, including proven experience supervising a team or leading shifts.
• Essential eligibility: Aged 18 or over due to the key-holder, opening/closing, cash‑handling and shift‑accountability duties of this position.
• Barista Skills:Proven proficiency in operating commercial espresso machines and preparing specialty coffee drinks.
• Leadership:Strong communication skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and coach a team.
• Customer Service:Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to handle conflict resolution professionally.
• Technical:Experience with POS systems and basic math skills for cash management.
• Flexibility:Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and early mornings.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods (up to 8 hours).
• Ability to lift up to 30-50 lbs (milk crates, coffee bags, etc.).
• Eligibility to work in the UK
