Job summary

Virgin Active Nottingham is seeking a Supervisor to lead the café operations, manage shifts and coach team members to deliver outstanding customer service and food quality. You will ensure brand standards, food safety, and presentation are maintained while overseeing food and beverage preparation and stock control.

You’ll onboard and train new team members, maintain daily records, and collaborate with the Virgin Active team to provide a seamless member experience.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience supervising teams in hospitality, food service or retail.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Solid knowledge of food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures.
• Organised with attention to detail and ability to train others.

Responsibilities

The Role

• Support the day-to-day running of the café, leading shifts and ensuring smooth operations.
• Coach and support Team Members to deliver exceptional customer service and food quality.
• Ensure brand, food safety and hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
• Oversee food and beverage preparation, ensuring consistency and presentation standards are met.
• Monitor stock levels, complete ordering and support stock control processes.
• Resolve customer queries professionally and support the team during busy trading periods.
• Assist with onboarding and training new team members while reinforcing operational standards.
• Maintain accurate operational records, food safety documentation and daily checklists.
• Work collaboratively with the Virgin Active team to deliver a seamless member experience.
• Support the Store Manager in achieving operational and commercial objectives.

Who We’re Looking For

• Food Safety Level 3 qualification.
• Food Allergy and Intolerance Training.
• Previous supervisory experience within hospitality, food service or retail is preferred.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a team.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures.
• Flexible approach to working early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
