Job summary

Kauai is part of the Virgin Active family in Nottingham, seeking a Supervisor to help run the café, lead shifts and coach the team while delivering outstanding food quality and customer service.

You’ll work 40 hours per week, with early mornings, evenings and weekends as required, ensuring food safety standards, stock control, onboarding new teammates and a welcoming member experience.

Qualifications

• Food Safety Level 3 qualification required.
• Allergen training required.
• Previous supervisory experience in hospitality, food service or retail preferred.

In this role, you will play a part in supporting the day‑to‑day operation of the café, leading shifts, coaching the team and ensuring outstanding food quality, service and operational standards. Working alongside the Store Manager, you’ll help create a welcoming environment for members while driving excellent customer service, food safety and team performance.

The Role

• Support the day-to-day running of the café, leading shifts and ensuring smooth operations.
• Coach and support Team Members to deliver exceptional customer service and food quality.
• Ensure brand, food safety and hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
• Oversee food and beverage preparation, ensuring consistency and presentation standards are met.
• Monitor stock levels, complete ordering and support stock control processes.
• Resolve customer queries professionally and support the team during busy trading periods.
• Assist with onboarding and training new team members while reinforcing operational standards.
• Maintain accurate operational records, food safety documentation and daily checklists.
• Work collaboratively with the Virgin Active team to deliver a seamless member experience.
• Support the Store Manager in achieving operational and commercial objectives.

Who We’re Looking For

• Food Safety Level 3 qualification.
• Food Allergy and Intolerance Training.
• Previous supervisory experience within hospitality, food service or retail is preferred.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a team.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures.
• Flexible approach to working early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
