Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is assisting in recruiting a Roadside Technician for a national breakdown company. The role is field-based in Oxford, with a 40-hour week and a highly flexible schedule to support drivers when needed.

The position offers a competitive base salary (£50,669) with OTE in excess of £57,000 and opportunities to earn £70k–£80k+. Benefits include overtime, a bonus scheme, a generous pension, life insurance, and career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or Level 3 qualification.
• Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, workshop or mobile.
• Full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
