Job summary

Vets Now is seeking a Veterinary Nurse for Sunday shifts in Colwyn Bay to support our emergency pet care services. The role focuses on triage, anesthesia, surgery, and in-patient care within our weekend team, providing essential care during out-of-hours practice.

The nurse will perform first aid, monitor critical care, and handle basic diagnostics while contributing to high clinic standards and patient welfare. RCVS registration is required, ECC experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • RCVS registration held for at least six months.
  • Motivated to maintain high clinic standards.
  • Passionate about caring for clients and pets.
  • ECC caseload experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • First aid over the phone and in clinic.
  • Critical care management and monitoring of in-patient trends.
  • Diagnostics and basic procedures in a sole charge capacity.

Working hours: Every other Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00

Understanding your key role

Our nursing team are at the core of clinical treatment including triage, surgery, anaesthesia, and in-patient care. Key responsibilities will include:

  • First Aid - give appropriate advice over the phone and perform in clinic.
  • Critical Care - management and monitoring of major body systems, monitoring of in-patient trends and identifying changes quickly, physiotherapy, pain assessment, wound and dressing care.
  • Diagnostics - confident to perform basic diagnostic procedures in a sole charge capacity.
Key requirements
  • RCVS registered for a minimum of six months.
  • Motivated to maintain high clinic standards.
  • Passionate about caring for our clients and their pets.
  • Experience with an ECC caseload is advantageous.
