Job summary

Tilbury Douglas invites talented students to join a Summer Placement Engineer role on a live regional project in the South West. You will work with site teams to gain practical experience in engineering and construction management, delivering on-site activities and supporting project delivery.

You'll learn from experienced professionals, develop your technical and problem-solving skills, and see how projects are engineered, managed and delivered from planning through execution.

Qualifications

• Currently studying towards a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Full UK driving licence, or working towards obtaining one by February 2027.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and logical approach, plus good written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely and in line with the project programme.
• Develop understanding of how construction and engineering works are carried out safely, efficiently and to required standards.
• Contribute to setting out, surveying and engineering control activities on site.
• Support preparation and review of method statements, risk assessments and quality documentation.
• Observe and support coordination of subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
• Attend planning meetings and progress reviews to understand site planning and coordination.
