Job summary

MBDA UK Ltd invites applications for a Mechanical Engineer Summer Placement 2027 in Stevenage. The role offers hands-on work across design, analysis, and actuation systems within a defence environment.

Starting June 2027, the 10-week placement includes opportunities to engage with rapid prototyping, external manufacture, and lab testing while interacting with experienced engineers on missile technology projects. Security checks apply.

Qualifications

• Current undergraduate pursuing a degree in Engineering (incl. Mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerospace) or Materials Science or Technology.
• Teaching or research exposure to CAD tools or FEA is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical Design: participate in design from concept to manufacture using CAD tools.
• Mechanical Future Concepts: work on early lifecycle from concept to R&D studies.
• Mechanical Analysis: use FEA tools and lab tests for stress and thermal analysis.
• Actuation Systems: work on electro-mechanical design of actuators in a multidisciplinary team.
• Materials and Processes: advise on materials principles and evaluate material compatibility.
