Job summary

Arup in Cardiff is offering a six to twelve week Summer Internship in Hydraulic Modelling for Water Utilities. You will join an integrated team of engineers, modellers and environmental scientists to work on real projects from day one, gaining hands-on experience and learning from senior professionals.

The role focuses on developing practical hydraulic models, analysing catchments, and contributing to impactful water infrastructure solutions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or Geography at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
• Strong interest in hydraulic modelling and water utilities.
• Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and scope datasets, hydraulic models, and catchment information.
• Develop hydraulic models representing rivers, drainage and water systems.
• Produce technical drawings, reports, and design calculations with guidance from the team.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists and project managers to deliver solutions.
• Maintain good records of meetings, reports, and technical outputs.
• Engage in continuous learning and seek professional development.
