Job summary

United Utilities is offering an internship with the network modelling team in the North West. You will gain exposure to hydraulic modelling and data analytics while supported by experienced engineers and modellers.

You’ll contribute to diverse projects that support operational teams and drive improvements in modelling capabilities, with opportunities to learn industry-standard software such as Synergi, InfoWorks WS Pro, EPAnet and ArcGIS.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in applying engineering principles.
• Curiosity and initiative to research new ideas and technologies.
• Degree in Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Data Science or related discipline.
• Ability to interpret data and support evidence-based decision-making.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Use industry standard software to analyse network performance and help solve operational and engineering challenges.
• Collaborate with operational teams to investigate network issues, identify root causes and support solutions.
• Apply engineering and analytic skills to optimise network performance and ensure high-quality water services.
• Analyse network and operational data to identify trends, anomalies and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Produce clear, concise technical reports presenting modelling results to stakeholders.
• Develop, maintain, validate and run hydraulic network models for different scenarios.
