Job summary

Arup is offering a 6–12‑week Summer Internship in Hydraulic Modelling for Water Utilities in Cardiff. You will work with a multidisciplinary team on real projects, learning practical hydraulic modelling, data analysis and reporting while contributing to river and water infrastructure solutions.

Ideal candidates are pursuing Civil/Environmental Engineering or Geography degrees (Bachelor's or Master's) with an interest in water, climate and sustainable development.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or Geography (Bachelor or Masters) as stated in the ad.
• Course or accreditation relevant to water engineering is advantageous.
• ICE/CIWEM accreditation is recognized by the employer.

Responsibilities

• Analysis and problem solving on large datasets, surveys, catchment information, hydraulic models and reports.
• Develop hydraulic models to represent urban drainage, rivers and coasts and assess flow and water quality.
• Develop engineering design solutions with calculations, sketches, workshops and technical drawings.
• Collaborate and communicate with internal and external teams, present work and review designs.
• Keep thorough records of meetings, reports and technical outputs.
• Support towards professional membership and continuous learning.
