Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Birmingham is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineering Discipline Lead to drive growth and lead a multidisciplinary team delivering critical projects for the electricity sector. You will recruit, onboard and mentor staff while ensuring high-quality design and client outcomes.

The role requires leadership, line-management experience, and a Chartered Engineer status (ICE/IStructE desirable). Flexible and hybrid working and a clear development path are offered.

Qualifications

• Leading technical aspects of civil / structural engineering projects.
• Supervising, developing and mentoring others.
• Experience in line management and team leadership
• Drive for growth and experience in recruitment and onboarding.
• Chartered Engineer and a Member of ICE or IStructE is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the civil/structural engineering design group and ensure delivery of projects in the electricity sector (HV substations, cables, transmission & distribution, overhead lines, HVDC).
• Provide recruitment, onboarding and mentoring to grow the team to match market demand and maintain billability.
• Set a clear identity for the group, foster an inclusive culture, and maintain high levels of communication and pastoral care.
• Ensure staff are technically equipped through training and development to deliver high-quality work for clients.
• Be a leader in civil engineering design; be billable in addition to leadership activities.
