Job summary

M Group Highways is seeking an experienced Civils Projects delivery professional to join the Eastern Region, based in Peterborough. You will lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors, and drive on-time delivery of highway works to meet safety and quality standards.

The role requires strong civil engineering knowledge, cost control, and stakeholder engagement. A proactive leader who can manage programmes, record changes, and ensure safe, compliant works is ideal.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil engineering and supervising site teams including earthworks, drainage and structures in highways environments.
• Sound commercial foundation to manage costs and budgets.
• Effective leadership and influencing skills to maximize team performance.
• Excellent customer-facing skills and ability to build client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead site team, engineering teams and subcontractors to successful completion of works.
• Produce short-term programmes from the Contract Programme and coordinate with the wider team.
• Record as-built information and changes; monitor progress and report delays or variances.
• Ensure on-site changes are captured per NEC contract conditions and documented.
• Maintain site safety records, deliver inductions, briefings and ensure documentation for all operatives.

Role is to join our Civils Projects delivery team in the Eastern Region, working in Peterborough.

What will you be doing?

You'll lead associated site team including, engineering teams and subcontractors to successful completion of works.

We'll ask you to produce short term programmes from the Contract Programme and communicate it with the wider team. Be responsible for recording the asbuilt information and change items. Monitor site activities against target programmes reporting exceptions in outputs, delays etc.

You'll be responsible for ensuring change on site is identified and recorded in line with the NEC contract conditions. Whilst supporting the site engineering teams and provide guidance.

Monitor all works activities to ensure that they meet the Works Specification and are being delivered in a safe manner following the principles of our behavioural based safety initiative, It Starts With Me.

We would expect you to complete a site diary, organise and deliver site inductions and daily briefings, keep good site records and ensure all subcontractors and operatives have the relevant documentation to start work safely.

• - Do you have a good level of experience in civil engineering and workforce supervision including earthworks; drainage and structures in a highways environment?
• - A sound commercial foundation to facilitate cost control
• - Effective team management, leadership and influencing skills to get the best from everyone
• - Excellent customer skills and the ability to work collaboratively in all situations
• - The ability to drive excellent relationships with contacts at all levels including the client, colleagues and members of key stakeholders
• - Highly organised and able to prioritise, whilst multi-tasking for many stakeholders, and still remaining focussed on what’s most important
