Job summary

M Group Highways is a leading UK highway maintenance contractor, delivering planned and reactive highway works across the region. The role involves managing delivery to time, cost and quality while maintaining safety and strong client relationships.

You will coordinate with schedulers and partners, supervise both in-house and contractor works, and ensure compliance with NEC contracts and HS&E policies. The base location is flexible across four depots in Cambridgeshire, with a broad remit to

Qualifications

  • SMSTS or SSSTS and CSCS are desirable.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act.
  • Practical site skills in highway works management.
  • Knowledge of NEC Contract Administration and commercial awareness in civil engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver highway maintenance works on time, within budget and to quality standards.
  • Manage supply chain in line with M Group standards and HS&E policies.
  • Plan and co-ordinate upcoming works with Scheduler; ensure timely order closure.
  • Supervise self-delivery and supply chain works and ensure NEC Contract compliance.

You’ll be joining our Highways maintenance team, as the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.

What you’ll be doing
  • Ability to develop relationships with Colleagues, Clients and supply chain partners to effectively deliver works.
  • To be responsible for successful delivery of highway maintenance works to time, cost and quality requirement
  • Ensure H&S compliance across all works and within the depots
  • To ensure client expectations of individual works are achieved.
  • Able to efficiently and effectively manage the supply chain in line with the M Group Minimum standards and HS&E policies.
  • To work with the Scheduler to plan and permit upcoming works and to ensure timely closing of orders.
  • To ensure all tasks are carried out in line with the programme, resources and that they are executed in accordance with specifications, drawings, dimensions and within agreed commercial limits.
  • To supervise both self-delivery and supply chain delivered works.
  • To ensure individual works are administered in accordance with NEC Contract
  • Base location is flexible and can be based in any of our 4 depots across Cambridgeshire.
What you'll bring
  • Desirable to have SMSTS or SSSTS and CSCS
  • Must be able to apply a thorough working knowledge of the New Roads and Street works Act.
  • Demonstrate practical site skills in highway works management
  • Demonstrate able knowledge of NEC Contract Administration and Commercial awareness within a civil engineering discipline.
  • Good people management skills and ability to promote positive behaviours in others.
