Job summary

Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, delivering major assets and running a large-scale programme with almost 9,000 colleagues. The MEP Sub Agent role is based in Coventry and will oversee day-to-day MEP works across defined sections, ensuring quality, safety and timely delivery in a busy construction environment.

The position requires leadership of multidisciplinary teams, effective stakeholder coordination, and strong knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Public

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines or related building services engineering.
• Experience supervising MEP activities on major projects.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems installation and delivery.

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Current Opportunity: MEP Sub Agent

Location:Based in Coventry - the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day delivery of MEP construction activities across allocated project sections.
• Coordinate Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health installation works in accordance with project requirements.
• Lead site engineers, supervisors and subcontractors to deliver works safely and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with BBV, HS2 and statutory health, safety and environmental standards.
• Review and implement construction methodologies, work package plans, permits and risk assessments.
• Monitor project progress against programme milestones and identify recovery actions where required.
• Manage quality assurance processes, inspections, testing and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate interfaces between MEP, civil, architectural, structural and rail systems teams.
• Support commercial activities including forecasting, change management, cost control and subcontractor performance monitoring. Review technical documentation, drawings, specifications and design changes.
• Ensure project records, reports and site documentation are maintained accurately.
• Participate in client, stakeholder and subcontractor meetings.
• Identify risks, opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support commissioning, handover and operational readiness activities
  
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience as a Sub Agent, Senior Engineer or MEP Engineer on major construction or infrastructure projects.
• Good understanding of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health systems installation and delivery.
• Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams.
• Strong knowledge of construction health and safety legislation and working practices.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Experience managing programme, quality and project performance.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• CSCS card and relevant site-based construction qualifications.
