Job summary

Balfour Beatty VINCI is recruiting for a Site Engineer role based in Coventry, Midlands, on the HS2 project. You will oversee setting out, supervision of site engineers, and coordination with section engineers to ensure work aligns with the construction programme.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (or HND) with at least 3 years' experience as a Section Engineer, plus ability to read drawings and manage permits to work. Right to work in the UK is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in Civil Engineering or HND in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years' experience as Section Engineer.
• Ability to read and understand drawings.
• Experience with Permit System and permits to work.
• Experience in Earthworks, Roadworks, Structures or Drainage.
• Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Allocate and supervise Site Engineers, ensuring accurate setting out, task completion, and coordination with Section Engineers/Foremen to manage clashes and maintain workflow.
• Manage quality and compliance by ensuring Inspection & Test Plans, Quality Check Sheets, method statements, and risk assessments are completed, approved, and followed.
• Oversee engineering and subcontractor requirements to ensure sections of work are delivered in line with the construction programme.
• Control and manage project documentation, including distribution of information and marking up design drawings to reflect completed works.
• Assess and plan plant, resource, and procedural requirements with the Section Foreman, regularly reviewing and improving procedures for efficiency.

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Location: Based in Coventry - the South Region comprises Sublots 2B, 2A and 1A Long Itchington Wood. It stretches for approximately 39.2km from Finham Brook to Southam through a mixture of rural and suburban landscapes

• Role Responsibilities:
