Job summary

HS2 is seeking an experienced MEP package lead to join the Midlands delivery team. Working with Balfour Beatty VINCI, you will lead installation, commissioning and handover of MEP packages across major rail infrastructure, coordinating interfaces with civil, structural, architectural and rail teams.

The role requires proven experience delivering MEP packages on large projects, strong knowledge of MEP systems, subcontractor management, and a solid grasp of NEC contracts.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering MEP packages on major infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health systems.
• Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and project controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of MEP packages from installation to commissioning and handover.
• Manage MEP subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and HSQE requirements.
• Coordinate interfaces between MEP, civil, structural, architectural, and rail teams.
• Monitor progress against milestones and implement recovery plans.
• Identify and mitigate project risks while driving improvement and excellence.
• Support commercial teams with forecasting, change control, compensation events, and NEC management.
• Ensure all works are delivered safely and in compliance with statutory requirements and procedures.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, designers, and supply chain partners.

Job description

HS2, Britain’s new high-speed railway is at peak construction. Balfour Beatty VINCI is HS2’s construction partner in the Midlands, responsible for delivering 90km of the route, from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead the construction and delivery of MEP packages from installation through to commissioning and handover.
• Manage MEP subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and HSQE requirements.
• Coordinate interfaces between MEP, civil, structural, architectural, and rail systems teams.
• Monitor progress against programme milestones and implement recovery plans where necessary.
• Identify and mitigate project risks while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Support commercial teams with forecasting, change control, compensation events, and NEC contract management.
• Ensure all works are delivered safely and in compliance with statutory requirements and company procedures.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, designers, and supply chain partners
  
• Proven experience delivering MEP packages on major infrastructure, rail, civil engineering, or large-scale construction projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health systems. Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent planning, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and project controls processes.
• Relevant engineering or construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
