Job summary

Novus Transforming Lives is recruiting a Learning Support Practitioner at HMP Lowdham Grange to provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support, helping learners overcome barriers and engage in education. You will identify individual needs, develop practical strategies and work with tutors and the wider team to promote inclusive learning.

Are you passionate about helping learners overcome barriers and reach their full potential? We’re seeking a dedicated Learning Support Practitioner to join our supportive education team. In this rewarding role, you’ll work closely with learners to identify individual support needs, develop practical strategies, and provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support that helps them engage, progress and succeed. You’ll collaborate with tutors and wider support teams to promote inclusive learning, build confidence, and ensure every learner is supported and empowered to achieve meaningful outcomes.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus Transforming Lives, our prison education provider at HMP Lowdham Grange, working asa Learning Support Practitioner. This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 40hrs per week.

Site Information

HMP Lowdham Grange is a Category B men's prison, located in the village of Lowdham in Nottinghamshire, England. The prison is operated by HMPPS. This prison accommodates male offenders aged 21 and over. The teams' aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Achieve performance and quality targets
  • Produce accurate and timely reporting
  • Demonstrate positive team working
  • Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups
  • Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities.
  • Have experience of successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary team
  • Hold Hidden Difficulties Level 2 or equivalent (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
  • Hold Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
